Palle is a little boy who lives by the sea with his parents. In the first book, his daddy brings the naughty cod Fjodor home with him because the fish needs to be repaired. That's when Palle and Fjodor become friends.
Palle would love to fly with Mommy or become a repairman like Daddy. But therefore Palle would need to have his own magic boots that allow you to walk under water. Until then there are many adventures waiting for Palle and Fjodor...
Daddy is a repairman and works deep down on the oceanground. He repairs all kind of sea-creatures down there. With a saw, a hammer, tape and other tools. Sometimes he brings the tough cases like Fjodor home with him to work on them in his workshop.
In his sparetime, Daddy loves to listen to the dancing records of Vikingarna and then dances with Mommy. Sometimes he plays badminton with Palle or goes to the beach with him to grill sausages. Daddy also collects stones from the seaground.
When Mommy goes to work she is going up in the air because she is a stewardess. Whenever she passes by Hiva Oa she brings some of those great yellow cherries home for Palle. And in order to come home she only jumps out of the plane with her parachute. Mommy is very beautiful even though Fjodor says this isn't so.
Mommy doesn't like Daddy to bring home work because then everything stinks like fish. And when Fjodor follows them to their holiday destination she isn't amused at all...
Victor is a whale and most probably the heaviest of Fjodor's friends. He lives near Fjodor's family and of course he knows Daddy.
Is Victor really such a voracious beast as Fjodor says? Palle will find out the truth about Victor in the third book. At least the friends would have had no chance after the big bang if Victor hadn't been there.
Halvor is a shark and veeery dangerous! That's at least what Fjodor says. Halvor is said to have eaten half of Fjodor's family. Well, look at those teeth!
Palle doesn't really know what to think of all that. Especially not in the third book when he is waiting for Fjodor deep down in the sea and instead meets Halvor. Has the ocean predator devoured Fjodor too in the end?
Vikingarna is a band who plays old fashioned dance music. Palle's daddy is a huge fan of them and even Fjodor likes them. Daddy admires Christer Sjögren, the singer of Vikingarna!
The band appears in every book and plays a special role in the third one.
